Buddy Holly Statue, Lubbock, Texas (November, 2002) This statue, along with the West Texas Music Walk, is located at the Civic Center in the dusty Texas town of Lubbock. Lubbock and the surrounding area have produced an indordinately large amount of cool musicians. Another don't-miss attraction in Lubbock is the Buddy Holly Exhibit at Buddy Holly Center. Unfortunately, they don't allow cameras, so I don't have any photos, but you can see some photos by following the link above. Unlike some celebrity music collections, they obviously had the cooperation of Holly's family, so there are all kinds of great items like Buddy's guitars, clothes, album covers, etc. This is worth a detour through Lubbock if you're anywhere close.
