Supporting the station

It costs me about $50/month to keep the station running, plus the music purchases. Some ways you can support the station:

  • Become a VIP member. You get CD sound quality and no commercials. I get a one-time bonus and a very small credit toward my account for every hour of VIP listenership.
  • Buy a Halden Wofford and the Hi-Beams CD, or come see us when we come to your town.
  • Make a PayPal Contribution (coming soon). No amount is too small.

Playlist Notes

There is always a Jimmie Rodgers song in rotation since he's the father of country music. Similar for Bill Monroe and bluegrass and Bob Wills and western swing. There's always as much Merle and Buck as I can get in the broadcast and keep it legal. Thre's always some Slim Whitman because no one before or since has ever sang like that. There's always something from my band, the Hi-Beams, in rotation, and I especially want to thank those of you who have given us good votes in the track ratings. Hope we see you some time when we're on the road.

Note about tracks

I've adjusted the volume of the tracks as close as I can to Live365's commercials, within the limitations of the source material--much of which was recorded 30-70 years ago. The older material and first generation CDs I'm usually working with typically have much larger dynamic range than more modern material, so I can't quite bring everything as loud as I'd like without distorting it. As a result, you still might notice some minor volume variations between tracks, but nothing like the station had previously.

Submitting your music

I'm not accepting unsolicited music right now. I've been overwhelmed with submissions and I just can't listen to even a fraction of it.
